Development of advanced RFID technology reaching finishing line
(November, 12)

The development of a new and more advanced RF terminal with more features and greater flexibility is undergoing its final stages of in-house testing. The new ergonomically designed terminals and corresponding SmartTags feature a revolutionary new way of running Data Tracking Systems across the shop floor. The new solution will be built on a new platform that will allow for large to super scale factory implementation, among other features.

GPRO signs contract with Indonesian PT Caterindo for first Phase of implementation
(October, 27)

GPRO successfully closed a deal with PT Caterindo, a subsidiary of Carry Wealth Limited, a major Hong Kong-based manufacturer. The contract is signed thus far, for PT Caterindo is at 2055 terminals, with the first phase at 730 terminals being implemented immediately.

 
 

Deepa Raya at GPRO HQ
(October, 12)

Staff and families were invited for this year's GPRO Deepa Raya Celebration. Indian and Malay food was prepared and the meaning of Deepavali and Hari Raya was explained by Indian and Malay colleagues. The staff had fun interacting and participating in the games prepared.

GPRO chosen as finalist in Red Herring's
Top 100 companies in Asia

(September, 9)

Out of almost 500 companies who were screened for the award, GPRO Technologies (under its subsidiary New Paradigm Technologies) was chosen among the top 200 finalists for Red Herring's Top 100 companies in Asia. CMMI Audits begin at GPRO
(September, 9)

The CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) audits for GPRO have begun, with audits being done on selected software teams. The US-originated process improvement model for software development, started implementation in April 2005 (see news report from the same month). CMMI is being implemented to improve the quality standard of internal processes and systems to international levels.  GPRO, along with 18 other SME companies will be looking to improve their processes to CMMI Level 2 by January 2006.

The CMMI model is used by major institutions and corporations all over the world including General Motors, AIG and The US Department of Defense.

 
 

GPRO Staff organize Blood Donation Drive for Kluang Hospital

GPRO staff came together to provide blood for the Kluang Hospital. The response was encouraging, with a final blood pack count of 32 packs.

GPRO secures contract with HK-based Golden Win Group
(August, 14)

GPRO has been securing deals with the various subsidies of Hong Kong based Golden Win Group, amongst them Trinunggal Komara and . Till date, GPRO has starting implementing in three of Golden Win's sites. The total signed terminals are 2320 terminals, and is spread between Indonesia, China and Macau.

 
 

GPRO commences RFID implementation with Bogart Lingerie
(August, 13)

GPRO has begun to install and run its latest RFID-enabled terminals in Bogart Lingerie, a fast growing international lingerie manufacturer. Some of the technologies used are our latest Digital Display Screen and Touch Screen kiosk, that assist Production Line Managers in tracking line performance.

2. To approve the payment of a First and Final Tax Exempt Dividend of 2.5% per ordinary share of RM0.10 each in respect of the year ended 31 December 2004.

GPRO releases 1st Quarter Financial results
(May, 30)

GPRO releases its 1st Quarter results. For the quarter ended 31 March 2005, the Group achieved a revenue and profit after taxation and minority interests (“PATMI? of approximately RM3.39 million and RM0.9 million respectively, as compared to the revenue and PATMI of RM3.37 million and RM0.53 million for the previous quarter ended 31 December 2004.

 

 

   
GPRO implements performance-based incentive system for staff

As part of its move to maximize resource utilization, GPRO has implemented a performance-based measurement system to provide incentives for staff in fulfilling their Critical Operating Tasks (COT). This will enable staff to be rewarded based on their performance and be given any additional recognition.

 

   
   

GPRO HR Division initiates Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Training

The GPRO HR department has implemented a Continuing Profession Education course for staff in the company. GPRO believes in building people through education and continuous learning. The CPE course allows staff to accumulate points and obtain certification once enough points have been earned.

A contract for implementation has been signed with Garment 10, an eminent garment manufacturer based in Hanoi. The payout will be in phases.

 

   
   

Sri Lanka favorable to GPRO
(May, 20)

After applying for a tender for Sri Lanka's technological needs for its industry, GPRO was asked to present its solutions to the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), Sri Lanka's main body representing the Textile and Apparel interests of the island. GPRO is looking forward to further cooperation with the government body to implement its standardized solutions and technologies to help the island increase its production productivity, efficiency and quality.

GPRO participates in MDC certification program 'Capability Maturity Model Integration' (CMMI) to strengthen existing knowledge and processes
(April, 14)

In another step to boost its efforts in strengthening software process and development, GPRO has signed on Malaysia's Multimedia Development Corporation QuESTs program.

The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) officially launched its Quality Excellence for Software & Technology SMEs (QuESTS) Programme in Kuala Lumpur today. The launch was officiated by Dato?Kong Cho Ha, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

QuESTS is a pilot programme targeted at a cluster of ICT SMEs to undergo professional guidance in developing and enhancing their internal engineering capabilities through the implementation of best practises in line with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) - Capability of Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) accreditation for software development.

“Through this programme, MOSTI hopes that MDC will be able to increase the number of local companies attaining the Capability of Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) accreditation,?said Dato?Kong.

He added that the accreditation is an important factor as CMMI is now being accepted as the de facto standard in the global ICT industry. The total project cost for each participating company in the QuESTS programme is RM50,000 inclusive of training, consultancy, assessment of CMMI Level 2 which QuESTS is providing technical assistance of maximum cap value of RM25,000.

Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration signed between Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association and GPRO Technologies to set up a Training Institute in Hanoi, Vietnam
(April, 7)

GPRO Technologies Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) to set up a training institute in Hanoi, Vietnam.

It said on April 7 the MOU was to provide appropriate education and training to VITAS members and personnel working in the textile and apparel industry. They will later form a joint-venture company.

GPRO would provide courses including skills development, technology, management and marketing, professional diploma and degree courses and online courses.

The institute will acquire a piece of land and a new building there.

 

   
   

National Seminar on "How IT helps  to improve productivity gain and enhance quality for the garment industry" organized by VINATEX, NhabeCo & GPRO
(April, 5)

Vietnam's VINATEX (Vietnam Textile and Apparel Corporation), a corporation made up of state-owned companies, organized a seminar in Ho Chi Minh to highlight the importance of IT in improving performance and productivity for the Textile and Apparel industry. GPRO was acknowledged as the official technology partner of Vietnam and manufacturers were encouraged to implement its systems for greater effectiveness in their production. The event was co-organized by Nhabe Garment Company, a well-known manufacturer, and GPRO Technologies.

GPRO signs first contract with China-based manufacturer
(March, 19)

GPRO has successfully signed a contract to implement its systems in Suzhou-based garment  manufacturer, known as the Jiangsu Dongdu Garment Company. It is ranked among the top ten for efficient management. GPRO is positive on this company allowing it to make further inroads into the vast untapped manufacturing market of China.

GPRO goes on staff expansion

GPRO goes on an aggressive recruitment drive to get in more staff to fulfill its human resource needs. Currently the staff strength stands at 170 persons, almost double that of the previous year.

 
 

GPRO holds annual dinner for staff
(February, 5)

The GPRO Activities Team recently organized the ninth GPRO Annual Dinner. There were special performances from each division, and talent shows by individual staff. Also, long-service awards were given out to staff who had served the company faithfully. There was also a lucky draw, with people walking away with TVs, DVD players and other prizes, courtesy of our business partners and suppliers.

Investors visit GPRO's operations in Vietnam

A total of 22 Malaysian investors from various major institutional investing firms visited our operations in Vietnam. Executive Chairman Jordan Tang showed them around and brought them to two factories, Nhabe Garment Company and Protrade, which have been our long-time partner in this business. Various technologies were shown and updates of the business given.

 
 

R&D testing 2nd Generation hardware

With the advent of RFID into the industry, GPRO has been implementing RFID chips into its existing technology to complement our highly successful flagship product- the G.PRO System.
